For all the hikers and nature lovers out there, there are plenty of hidden trails, magical waterfalls, and breathtaking mountain walks for you to discover in Le Marche all year round.

trail through the Sibilini mountains

Summer, autumn, winter or spring, the Sibilini mountains in Le Marche offer the perfect get away to free your mind and breath some crisp, fresh air. Whether you're looking for a day trip with a lunch pit stop, a day to relax in the natural hot thermal baths or a cooling waterfall on a hot summers day. Le Marche has a lot to offer.

In this post I'd like to provide you with a nice list of my favorite things to do in the Sibilini mountains throughout the year.

Gola dell’Infernaccio

The Gola dell'Infernaccio is the most beautiful hike you can do in the Sibilini mountains almost all year round. It takes a few hours so make sure to pack accordingly (water, boots, etc.). This walk winds you round the ancient mountains, with occasional streams, waterfalls and breath taking views along the way. This is definitely my favorite excursion of Le Marche.

Climb Monte Sibilla

Another favorite excursion of mine to the climb of Monte Sibilla. This is a wonderful, quite steep hike up to the very top of the mountain. This hike will definitely get your blood pumping but the view at the top is 100% worth it.

Cascate di forcella

The waterfall of Forcella is a great choice if you are looking for an easier walk and a beautiful waterfall. Walk for about 20 minutes to reach this breathtaking waterfall. Despite it's beauty this place can still be considered a hidden gem as it is rarely busy. This is the perfect walk all year. I especially enjoy going there in the summer for a nice cool down in the waterfall.

Lu vurghe

Lu vurghe is a collection of warm, sulfur, natural baths. This place is know for the unique colour of the water formed by the sulfur and rock. This is somewhere I would recommend if you're looking for somewhere quite unique and different. I will let you know in advance though, the sulfuric smell takes some getting used to and can be quite overwhelming. It does however offer many health benefits. The sulfur is full of minerals that are said to relieve aches and pains.

Castelluccio flowers

Castelluccio is a small hilltop village that looks over a large plain of grass called the Piano Grande. Here, in spring time, the fields are absolutely covered in beautiful colourful flowers. This is definitely a must see!

Frasassi caves

I mustn't forget to mention the spectacular Frasassi caves. These underground caves were discovered less than 100 years ago but are home to the most amazing stalactites and stalagmites I have ever seen. I definitely recommend booking a tour of these glorious caves.

Cycling

For cyclists there are plenty of cycling trails to be discovered. Take a look at the Grande Anello cycle trails in this link: https://www.turismo.marche.it/it-it/Cosa-vedere/Attrazioni/Grande-Anello-dei-Sibillini/9045
